Just not enough time to do this right 03/02/2010
If you are a competitive runner you know what its like to go into a race knowing that you are not at your best. I learned my lesson a couple years ago and I will not do that again in a marathon. I am going to postpone my running of the Derby Marathon. I have not done the work (because of injury) that I need to do to put myself in a position to be competitive here. I respectfully bow out of the marathon. :( Comments03/03/2010 10:26:29 So I just saw you are not going to run the KY Derby marathon. I know exactly what you mean about not being ready for a race, my marathon in New Orleans this past weekend is a perfect example of that. Well you may already know, but I finished in 4:15, my slowest one yet and the course was extremely flat. I had hoped to do so much better, but I know now that I didn't put in nearly enough miles and quality miles at my own pace for that matter! Trying to coach run/walkers doing intervals and then get in my own training just didn't work out the way I had planned. Those last 10 miles really got me good, I just didn't have the endurance I needed to get through to the end. Oh well, it was a learning experience and I still had fun at the race! Keep me posted on what race you plan on doing instead once you feel like you are properly trained! Leave a Reply | AboutI will be running the 2010 KDF Marathon in Louisville, KY. My goal is to get myself in good enough shape to compete for a top spot in the race and really help showcase the city of Louisville, KY. Follow me ArchivesMarch 2010 Categories |
