A clearer direction.
A practical way forward.

You may know something needs to change without knowing where to begin. Through Tree of Life, my one-on-one Life Coaching combines thoughtful conversation, practical planning, and time outdoors. Wherever we can, we go outside—to walk, reflect, explore what matters, and turn insight into steps you can actually take.

The coaching process

Reflect. Plan. Practice. Review.

01 / DISCOVER

Clarify what matters

We explore your current situation, strengths, values, and priorities. You choose the goal; together we describe what progress would look like in everyday life.

02 / TAKE ACTION

Choose your Field Work

Field Work is our name for the practical work between sessions. It might be tracking a routine, preparing a conversation, trying a new activity, or reaching out to a community group. We agree on steps that fit your life.

03 / KEEP LEARNING

Review and adjust

We look at what you tried, what helped, and what got in the way. We recognize progress, revisit assumptions, and adjust the plan so accountability supports forward movement.

Your life. Your goals.

You don’t have to have it all figured out.

Maybe you’re navigating a new chapter, feeling disconnected from the person you want to be, or tired of making plans that never become habits. We start with where you are, what you want to change, and what a meaningful next step would look like to you.

Through Tree of Life Counseling Center, I provide structured one-on-one Life Coaching with a dynamic, outdoor-oriented style. We often begin at the Tree of Life office: the first meeting is usually indoors, and later sessions typically include a few minutes of indoor discussion before we head outside whenever we can. Reflection, personal assessment, problem solving, goal planning, and accountability travel with us.

A walk-and-talk can be the session itself—a chance to work through a decision, explore a transition, or make a practical plan while moving through nature. We choose the setting and pace together, with indoor conversation available when it fits your needs or the conditions.

A particular heart for men’s well-being

Room to be honest.
A way to move forward.

Men’s mental health matters to me. In coaching, I make room to talk about the pressures, relationships, habits, and changes that shape your daily life—and to work on practical steps toward the life you want. This is a particular focus within my broader work; people of all backgrounds are welcome.

SOBRIETY & EVERYDAY LIFE

Build a life you want to show up for

Explore what gives your days structure and meaning: healthy routines, friendships, interests, personal responsibility, and time outdoors. We can work on recovery-supportive goals and follow-through alongside your existing recovery supports. Coaching does not replace addiction treatment.

FATHERHOOD & RELATIONSHIPS

Be present for what matters

Make space to think about the father and person you want to be. Work on balancing responsibilities, communicating clearly, setting boundaries, and finding ways to connect with your children. Shared outdoor time can be one way to put those intentions into practice.

CHANGE & IDENTITY

Find yourself in a new chapter

A relationship ending, a career shift, changing family roles, or another major transition can leave you asking what comes next. We can explore your values, rebuild a workable routine, and reconnect with purpose, community, and the interests you may have set aside.

You don’t need a polished explanation or a dramatic turning point to begin. A walk, a cup of coffee in the woods, and an honest conversation can be a place to start. When clinical mental health care is needed, Tree of Life’s licensed professionals can provide or recommend that care.

Life Coaching, out in the world

Good conversations can happen outside.

The work is still personal, purposeful, one-on-one coaching. The setting gives us room to slow down, notice what matters, and make a plan for your life. We arrange the format together around your goals, comfort, schedule, and conditions.

WALK & TALK

From the office to outside

Start with a brief indoor conversation at Tree of Life, then continue outdoors whenever we can. We can reflect, talk through challenges, and plan your next steps as we walk. The first meeting is usually indoors so we can get acquainted and establish a foundation.

EARLY MORNING

Coffee in the Woods

Make space for an early morning coaching conversation in nature. Coffee in the Woods offers an unhurried setting to reflect on priorities, talk through what is on your mind, and set an intention or practical direction for the days ahead.

PAUSE & NOTICE

Sunrise & Sunset Mindfulness

Meet the beginning or end of the day with mindful attention, quiet reflection, and coaching conversation. We can use the natural rhythm of sunrise or sunset to slow down, consider what matters, and connect your reflections to everyday choices.

ON-SITE AT LOCAL PARKS

Hiking & Coaching

Meet at a local park for an arranged hiking session that brings conversation, reflection, and planning onto the trail. We choose a route and pace suited to your comfort and goals; you do not need to be an experienced hiker to start the conversation.

Session locations, timing, walking or hiking routes, and indoor or outdoor arrangements are agreed in advance, taking weather and your needs into account.

What we can work on

Make change meaningful—and workable.

These focus areas build on the Life Coaching services described by Tree of Life. We choose priorities together, based on your goals and the kind of support that fits.

DIRECTION & TRANSITIONS

Find your next chapter

Explore identity, purpose, personal growth, and life direction. Navigate changing roles or major transitions, reconnect with interests after a difficult season, and clarify what you want to build next. We turn a broad wish for change into realistic short- and long-term goals.

GOALS & DAILY LIFE

Build consistency

Work on motivation, follow-through, healthy disciplines, and work-life balance. Identify obstacles, choose manageable actions, and review what happened without turning a setback into a verdict about who you are. Accountability means honest reflection and a plan you can adjust.

RELATIONSHIPS & BOUNDARIES

Connect with intention

Explore interpersonal difficulties, practice clearer communication and conflict-management skills, and develop healthy boundaries. We can prepare for a conversation, consider your choices, and identify what is within your control while respecting the people involved.

CONFIDENCE & WELL-BEING

Take a manageable step

Look at how low confidence, negative self-perceptions, body image concerns, stress, discouragement, or anxiety- and low-mood-related barriers affect your goals. Coaching focuses on practical choices and daily actions; clinical concerns belong with a qualified professional.

HEALTHY LIFESTYLE & RECOVERY

Create supportive routines

Build routines around movement, exercise, everyday nutrition habits, and a healthier lifestyle. For clients with sobriety or recovery-oriented goals, coaching can support meaningful structure, personal responsibility, healthy connections, and follow-through alongside appropriate recovery and clinical support.

COMMUNITY & SPIRITUAL GROWTH

Make space for belonging

Move toward friendship, community involvement, and activities that give your week meaning. When faith is part of your goals, we can include spiritual growth, Christian reflection, and faith-based goal development. Your values, comfort, and choices guide the conversation.

How I show up

Thoughtful listening. Clear goals. Honest follow-through.

You bring the knowledge of your own life. I bring questions, attention, encouragement, and structure to help you make sense of your options and decide what to do next.

My approach emphasizes active listening, empathy, and respect. We make room for your values and your perspective, notice assumptions, and explore possibilities without expecting you to adopt someone else’s version of a good life.

We can look at strengths as well as obstacles: when things have worked, what matters most to you, what support is already available, and which changes are within reach. The goal is a plan you understand and choose—not simply advice to take home.

We’ll discuss expectations, coaching boundaries, and the way we work together at the start. When your needs fall outside coaching, Tree of Life provides a connection to licensed professionals who can assess or recommend appropriate care.

From insight to action

Small steps can give a big goal somewhere to begin.

A clearer boundary. A conversation you’ve been putting off. A routine you can repeat. Time set aside with your children. A first visit to a group. Progress becomes easier to recognize when we define what you’ll actually do and make time to learn from it.

The conversation can move with you.

Time outdoors is woven into my Life Coaching whenever we can. Walk-and-talk planning, Coffee in the Woods, sunrise or sunset mindfulness, and local-park hiking sessions give us different ways to reflect and work toward your goals. Outdoor Coaching can also complement this work when you want to learn an activity, build skills, or take part in an adventure.

Questions you may have

Find the approach that fits.

Do I have to be outdoorsy?

No. Outdoor Life Coaching can be a comfortable walk and conversation, a quiet Coffee in the Woods session, or sunrise or sunset mindfulness. We agree on the setting and pace together. Indoor conversation remains available when it suits your needs or the conditions.

Where do sessions take place?

We often start at the Tree of Life office. The first meeting is usually indoors; later sessions typically include a few minutes of indoor discussion, then time outside whenever we can. Coffee in the Woods, sunrise and sunset mindfulness, and hiking sessions at local parks are also available by arrangement.

Do I need a specific goal before we meet?

You can begin with a question, a transition, or a sense that something needs to change. Clarifying a useful goal can be part of the work.

Can coaching support sobriety and recovery goals?

Coaching can help with routines, accountability, healthy relationships, community, and meaningful activities that support your goals. It does not provide addiction treatment or replace your recovery supports or clinical care.

Is faith part of every session?

Faith-based reflection can be included when it fits your goals and preferences. We discuss the role you want faith to have rather than assume.

Is coaching only for men?

No. Men’s well-being, sobriety-supportive routines, fatherhood, and major life changes are a particular focus of Kevin’s work. Life Coaching remains open to people with many different backgrounds and goals.
